We ask that 3 owner moderators of leading groups in this state should be co-owners of the state modsquad in addition to the international leadership. Leading groups typically refer to larger groups/cities in that state. Here we state specifically “owner mods” because it would not be appropriate to have a non-owner co-mod be the state group owner and the owner mod only a member. This avoids complications when an owner-mod asks that a “helper mod” step down at some point. In the case of National Modsquads these groups are run by leadership teams in close coordination with the overall international organizational leadership.

National and Regional Modsquad Requirements

Members of national or regional modsquads must live in and moderate an approved Freecycle group in that state or country or be an NGA or GOA of the same. To be acknowledged as the official national/regional group, the criteria below must be met in addition to including the overall international leadership in co-ownership. Such regional and national mod squads establish a forum for official posts to be allowed to be forwarded from the main MS or directly made in the group. It also establishes a baseline collaborative requirement for future empowerment and growth.

National Modsquads

National modsquad owners must include national Freecycle leaders of that country in addition to the international leadership.

Regional Modsquads

We ask that 3 owner moderators of leading groups in this state should be co-owners of the state modsquad in addition to the international leadership. Leading groups typically refer to larger groups/cities in that state. Here we state specifically “owner mods” because it would not be appropriate to have a non-owner co-mod be the state group owner and the owner mod only a member. This avoids complications when an owner-mod asks that a “helper mod” step down at some point. In the case of National Modsquads these groups are run by leadership teams in close coordination with the overall international organizational leadership.
