Modified Step 2 email to applicant

"Subject: Proposed new Freecycle group xxx xxxx- Step 2"

Modified Step 2

Hello xxx,

Here are the requirements you would be expected to follow as a volunteer Lead Moderator for The Network, if your application for a new group is approved. Please read this email in its entirety and ONLY proceed if you agree to abide by these requirements.

If you have any questions, please ask BEFORE proceeding with this application. If you are unclear at any point, please do not hesitate to ask.

MODERATION BASICS. In short, you'll be checking in briefly a couple times a day to moderate your group. You'll be doing mostly 4 things:

*Calmly handling any issues or complaints that come in. You will need to be as nice and friendly as possible, even if the mail from the member is not the most pleasant mail you have ever seen. You will need to remember that you will be representing The Freecycle Network(R) at all times.

*Approving or rejecting messages that have been flagged for moderation

*Responding to emails sent to moderators of the group. Many members' questions can be answered with the assistance of our how-to guide:

*Reading the unmoderated postings to check for compliance with The Freecycle Network's required group guidelines. These guidelines can be found here:
"'MODERATOR TRAINING."' You will be required to go through the online training course with the help of a trainer and a practice group (the Playground). Each lesson has assignments for you to turn in to your trainer. The training and the Freecycle site are in English.Please get back to me as soon as possible and let us know the following:

  • That you are in agreement with the guidelines and are willing to uphold them;
  • That you are willing to sign up for the online training class;
  • Any other questions, concerns, or ideas.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Please note that once the training is completed, you will receive a certificate and I will be notified by the online trainer. Once this occurs, I will then set up your group.
