ADMIN Notice - Accurate Descriptions of Items

When posting your items to the list, make sure that the item offered is accurately described. If it's dirty or broken, let the community make a decision about whether or not taking something dirty and broken fits their needs or wants.

There might be someone out there who likes tinkering with broken doodads or cleaning up dirty thingamajigs. There is nothing more disappointing and/or maddening to read a glowing review of an item only to come over and find that the item should have been destined for the dumpster. Sometimes junk is still junk, no matter how you describe it, and if what you have is junk that should be tossed in the garbage, don't post an offer with the expectation that someone is going to come over and haul your junk away free and clear.

Freecycle(R) is not a dumping ground and should not be treated as such. It's important to remember that sometimes things DO belong in a landfill.

Email to member - Accurate Description of Items Offered

Please ensure that the item you are offering is accurately described in the message post of your offer to the best of your ability. It is very important that descriptions match the item, and that includes the fact it could be dusty, been stored in garage, possibly not working, missing parts, etc.

Freecycle(R) should not be used as a dumping ground for such items that may not have any more life to give another member.

Your trash might be someone else's treasure, but please be honest when you offer an item for pickup. It's not fair for someone to show up expecting an item described in pristine condition when it really should be destined for the dumpster.

Finally, members have the right to decline an item from you if you have misrepresented it in any way. Thank you for your attention to this very important issue!
